As you sit in your home in Ohio sipping a Margarita you dream of sandy toes and salty kisses and saying "I do" at sunset on the perfect Florida beach. It all feels so romantic but seems so far away as you look out your window at white fluffy snow banks. The truth is, it's not so far away and your dream can be a reality. I'm going to share the top 5 things to consider as you begin the exciting process of destination wedding planning. With your desired wedding date in mind, hit the internet.
1. Sunrise or Sunset? Are you an early riser who is ready to conquer the world and drink in the sun's warm greetings as it slowly lights the day or do you dream of kissing the day away and saying good night as husband and wife? If you can't stop seeing you and your beloved being blanketed in a the glorious shades or red, pink and yellow as the sun sets on the horizon than you should consider the West coast of Florida. Southwest Florida boasts glorious sunsets that will keep your wedding memories glowing for many years to come.
2. Once you've narrowed down your coast, you'll need to lock your sites on a City that fits your accommodations budget, airfare budget and wedding venue expectations. Florida's West coast has many great destinations that can be ideal for your beach wedding. I love to recommend trip advisor for this because you can type in various cities and hotel pricing will pop up as well as nearby amenities and things to do during your extended stay.
3. Start searching for a qualified Florida beach wedding company that offers all inclusive packages. This will simplify your life and help create that stress free wedding experience. All inclusive beach wedding packages can include your Officiant, decor, flowers, music, photos and more so you will only need to focus on your dress, travel arrangements and enjoying the experience with your fiance. Once you narrow down your beach wedding planners, call them and check their availability for your date.
4. Try to be flexible on your wedding date. Your favorite Florida beach wedding company might not be available on your desired date or flights and hotel may be more economical on a different day. I suggest you have a few different dates that can work for you and create a side by side comparison of all the expenses for each date such as your flights, hotel, rental cars, beach wedding package pricing and more. If you can save a substantial amount with a date change than it might be attractive to you.
5. Don't forget your Florida marriage license as you dive deep into planning and travel. It's a requirement that you obtain a Florida State issued married license. Be sure as you are planning your travel you consider arriving in your desired City on a day that the local Clerk of Court is open for business. You and your fiance will need to visit the Clerk of Court and apply for your license. Since you are not a Florida resident there isn't a waiting period, you will walk out of the building with your marriage license. There are license by mail services in our beautiful State as well but you will need at least 60 days to get those so if you are planning an elopement or last minute union, it's not a good option for you.
A beach wedding in Florida is romantic and truly what dreams are made of. If you follow these 5 steps in your initial planning process you'll save money, time and yourself from stress!
Happy planning!
